The “Sensible Knave” and the Rights of Unequals

Abstract


The paper deals with the position of the “sensible knave” from Hume's the Enquiry Concerning the Principles of Morals in connection with the rights of unequals. The author turn to modern views on animal rights and Nietzsche's concepts of the origin of justice in equalization and exchange and diminishing of rights, too. It may be combination of “reason-heart subjectivity” and “retribution and exchange” patterns can serve as a convenient initial model in deliberations on moral rights.
