Information and Computer Ethics as the Course of Study in Education in Russia

Abstract


This paper is dedicated to the problems of integrating and teaching information and computer ethics. We analyze the difficulties related to teaching information ethics. We also study the social and moral problems that concern developing and using information technologies, comprehension of professional values and standards, and its implementation during professional life. In addition, we discuss the strategies of integration of ethics into the computer sciences education process. These strategies were already implemented in the western education system; in this paper, we give an overview of the implementation from the Russian perspective. The conclusions are made with respect to the main issues of integrating computer and information ethics in the Russian educational system. These conclusions are mainly concerning traditional mentality and the lack of interdisciplinary dialog between specialists in different areas.
