Аннотация


В данной статье исследуется значение диаграмматической логики экзистенциальных графов (diagrammatic logic of Existential Graphs) Чарльза Пирса, этих «кинофильмов мысли» («the moving pictures of thought») для современной философии и когнитивной науки. В первой части статьи рассматриваются некоторые до настоящего времени неизвестные подробности, связанные с реакцией на появление Экзистенциальных Графов (EG) в начале 1900-х годов в контексте возникновения современных концепций символической логики. Во второй части показаны философские аспекты экзистенциальных графов и вклад этой концепции в современную логическую теорию, включая отношения между графической логикой и изображениями, проблемой значения логических констант, когнитивной экономичностью графической логики, несостоятельностью тезиса Фреге– Рассела, а также гипотезы о Мысленном Языке (the Language of Thought).
